Helps the teacher provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

Prepares for classroom activities under the supervision of the Supervising Teacher.

Works with small groups of students and/or individual students to reinforce materials initially introduced and/or as directed by the supervising teacher.

Assists individual students in need of intervention, assistance and/or special attention.

Performs clerical duties relating to their assignment.

Guides independent assignments established by the teacher.

As directed by the supervising teacher assists in the implementation of student’s intervention and/or individual education plans.

Assists teacher with non-instructional and instructional classroom duties.

Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work.

Assists in duties relating to the supervision of students as assigned by the Supervising Teacher and Building Principal.

Helps prepare class displays and bulletin boards.

Constructs supplementary materials for use in the classroom under the teacher’s supervision.

Strives to improve and maintain job skills through in-service training programs, district required training, and other means.

Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

Willingness to work with students who may display verbally and/or physically aggressive behaviors.

Willingness to assist with the implementation of students’ behavioral intervention and health plans.
-
As needed assists students with self-care needs (e.g. hygiene) and communication needs.

Has regular and predictable attendance.
